Use a Wheel of Life to analyse
A “wheel of life” is a term used to help organise aspects in your life, it’s a way to see your goals clearly and could help you achieve them over time. It is used by several people all over the world and you can download a wheel of life template blank copy on various websites. It is not something you believe in, simply a tool to have a view of your life and make plans or set goals based on your own interpretation of where you are and where you want to go.
According to Brendon Barker, author of “The Start of Happiness”, he shares that there are 3 most important things that derives happiness, these are:
1 – Making a difference
2 – Doing what you love
3 – Surrounding yourself with amazing people
Creating your wheel of life
We all lead busy lifestyles and sometimes miss finding the time to grow our own strengths and realise goals. Utilising a wheel of life balance method will help you better yourself and find the balance to juggle your life with more vision and perhaps less stress too.
You can customise your wheel of life to suit your needs, it is typically a pie chart, colour coded to the different areas of your life. For example it could contain spirituality, health & fitness, family, recreation, friends & social, personal growth, relationships, studies, career and finances.
You get to rate each category according to your satisfactory levels, where you’ll put 1 closer to the centre and go upward to 10. You could also choose to rate it one to five if you wanted.
You can go through each category to assess where you stand or see yourself in each of the categories drawn up on your wheel. For example:
• Health & fitness – are you at your goal weight or living the healthy, fit lifestyle you planned for yourself (rate it on the wheel)
• Relationships – are you happy with your personal relationship with your wife/husband/partner? How about relationships with siblings and parents? Is there room to improve? (rate it on the chart)
• Studies & career – are you at your goal career? If not what steps have you taken to get there? (rate on chart)
Low ratings (0 to 4) mean that you’re not too happy with the selected categories, mid ratings (5 to 7) reasonably satisfied, (8 to 10) perfectly happy at your goal place). You will also notice on the wheel which “spokes” are lacking and cause the wheel to stumble along instead of smoothly roll forward. An example may be that you don’t have a job at all, where steps can be put in place to find one.
How to improve your statistics
Select something on the wheel that you would like to improve, some people choose something that will impact their lives positively immediately. Even if you were to choose from the “easiest” upward, you can pick that as a starting point. Identify the possible problem, find out solutions to how you will solve or better the situation positively. Reprioritise where necessary, and start positive change in your life bit, by bit.

The wheel of life has assisted many people to achieve their goals financially, improve their relationships, take time off to relax and lots more. You can let it assist you to improving every area of your life today!
